CNY 14 Feb 2010

As usual, during the first day of CNY, my family went to visit J's father. Now that my mother-in-law is no longer around, the house became rather quiet. But before we left for the visiting, I prepared a simple brunch. It was rice with a dish on vegetables (zai chai). We have the habit of eating zai chai as our first meal in a chinese new year. Both Isa and J liked it and I will prepare more zai chai next year.

At my father-in-law's home, we met 2nd aunt and her daughter', Kiat's family. Kiat was pregnant with her second child - a boy. Ok, we will look forward to the full-moon celebration in about 2 months' time.

Soon, we were on our way to mum's place. Mum and dad already waiting patiently for our arrival before they could start eating the zai chai. Mum cooked the usual zai chai plus another salted vegetables. The latter was my favourite and I simply could not stop eating.

On our way back, we past the famous Kwan Im Temple. It was full with people.

In the evening, all came to my home for a vegetarian dinner. Doris cooked curry, mum prepared anothe set of zai chai and the salted vegetables, while I provided the rice and venue!

All the family members have a good time together.
